Glock 19 Gen 6 vs Ruger RXM: Which Should You Buy?

By Jett's Firearms · May 1, 2026 · 7 min read
Both firearms are available at Jett's Firearms. Find us at an upcoming NC gun show to handle both →

Two of the most talked-about compact 9mm pistols of 2026 are sitting on opposite ends of a very interesting debate. The Glock 19 Gen 6 is the latest evolution of the world's most popular handgun. The Ruger RXM — a collaboration between Ruger and Magpul — is the scrappy challenger that undercuts the Glock on price while matching it almost spec-for-spec. We break both down so you can make the right call at the show.

Glock 19 Gen 6 — MSRP $745

Announced in December 2025 and on dealer shelves January 20, 2026, the Glock 19 Gen 6 is the most significant update Glock has made in over a decade. It keeps the same proven Safe Action operating system and 15+1 capacity while overhauling nearly everything the shooter touches.

Key Gen 6 upgrades include a factory flat-faced trigger, a completely redesigned Optic Ready System (ORS) that replaces the old MOS plate system with a deeper, more secure direct-mount interface, a new RTF6 grip texture that blends aggressive purchase with everyday comfort, an integrated palm swell, undercut trigger guard, enlarged beavertail, and a return to the simpler single captive recoil spring used in earlier generations. Every standard Gen 6 ships optics-ready with three polymer mounting plates in the box.

✓ Pros
  • 40+ years of proven reliability
  • Largest aftermarket ecosystem in the world
  • Factory optics-ready as standard (ORS)
  • Improved ergonomics out of the box
  • Flat-faced trigger standard — no upgrade needed
  • Gen 5 holsters and magazines still compatible
  • Trusted by law enforcement worldwide
✗ Cons
  • $745 MSRP — premium price point
  • Gen 5 barrels not compatible with Gen 6
  • Trigger reset feel reported as mushier than Gen 5
  • Widest profile of the two (1.26")
  • No factory threaded barrel at launch
  • Higher grip angle takes adjustment for some

Ruger RXM — MSRP $499

The Ruger RXM is a collaboration between Ruger and Magpul — hence the name. Launched in late 2024, it is a Glock 19-pattern compact 9mm built around a serialized stainless steel Fire Control Insert (FCI) housed inside a Magpul-designed polymer grip module. The FCI is the serialized "firearm" — the grip module is swappable, giving the RXM genuine modularity that the Glock cannot match at this price.

The slide ships optics-ready for RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, and RMSc footprints. The front sight is a co-witness tritium unit — night sight capability right out of the box with no upgrade required. It accepts Glock Gen 3 magazines, giving buyers instant access to the largest pistol magazine aftermarket in the world. At $499 MSRP, it undercuts the Glock 19 Gen 6 by $246 while hitting nearly identical external dimensions and matching its 15+1 capacity.

✓ Pros
  • $499 MSRP — $246 less than Glock Gen 6
  • Tritium night front sight included standard
  • Modular FCI chassis — swappable grip modules
  • Magpul TSP grip texture — excellent in all conditions
  • Slimmer profile (1.0" width) — easier carry
  • 100% USA-made
  • Glock Gen 3 mag compatibility — massive aftermarket
  • Ruger lifetime service policy
✗ Cons
  • Launched 2024 — no decade-long track record yet
  • Single caliber FCU — no caliber conversions
  • Smaller aftermarket than Glock's massive ecosystem
  • Grip module selection still limited vs. P320
  • Some optic footprints require adapter plate
  • Less law enforcement / duty use data

The Verdict

Buy the Glock 19 Gen 6 if you want the most proven platform in the world, the deepest aftermarket, and factory optics integration on a gun that law enforcement has trusted for four decades. The $745 MSRP is premium, but the Gen 6 is the best Glock ever made.

Buy the Ruger RXM if you want maximum features per dollar — night sights, optics cut, Glock mag compatibility, and a modular chassis for $246 less. It's the smarter buy for a first full-size carry gun, a truck gun, or a range pistol where every dollar counts. The only real knock is the shorter track record.

Both pistols are in stock at Jett's Firearms. Come find us at an upcoming NC gun show and hold both before you decide — there's no substitute for trigger time.

Best Concealed Carry Pistols of 2026

By Jett's Firearms · May 1, 2026 · 7 min read
All four firearms below are available at Jett's Firearms. Reserve at an upcoming NC gun show →

The best concealed carry pistol is the one that fits your hand, fits your life, and runs reliably every single time. Here are four of the top carry guns we stock at Jett's Firearms — chosen for real-world performance, concealability, and value at every price point.

#1 — Glock 43X

MSRP $538.00 UPC: 764503061912
Caliber: 9mm Luger
Capacity: 10+1 (15+1 w/ S15 mag)
Barrel: 3.41"
Overall Length: 6.5"
Width: 1.10" (slide: 0.87")
Weight: 19.2 oz unloaded
Action: Striker-fired, Safe Action
Sights: Fixed, Glock Marksman Barrel

The Glock 43X bridges the gap between the ultra-slim G43 and the full-capacity G19. It uses the narrow 0.87" Slimline slide paired with a full-length grip, giving you better purchase and control without adding bulk. The Glock Marksman Barrel delivers exceptional out-of-the-box accuracy. With Shield Arms' S15 aftermarket magazine, the 43X becomes a 15+1 slim carry gun — the same capacity as a G19 in a significantly thinner package. Factory-new in May 2026, Glock began shipping official 15-round OEM magazines for the 43X, making it the most capable Slimline Glock ever. Built-in beavertail, reversible mag catch, and Gen5 internals round out a gun that's become one of the most popular carry choices in the country.

#2 — SIG Sauer P365X

MSRP $699.99 UPC: 798681663859
Caliber: 9mm Luger
Capacity: 12+1 (15+1 extended)
Barrel: 3.1"
Overall Length: 6.0"
Height: 4.8"
Weight: 17.8 oz unloaded
Action: Striker-fired
Sights: XRAY3 day/night, optics-ready slide

The P365X is the sweet spot of the SIG P365 lineup — it takes the original P365's ultra-slim slide and short barrel and pairs it with the longer X-Series grip module that fits a flush 12-round magazine. The result is a pistol that conceals like a micro-compact but shoots like a full-sized gun. The X-Series grip features an integrated mag funnel, extended beavertail, and SIG's signature flat trigger. The slide is factory-milled optics-ready, accepting the ROMEOZero and other micro red dots directly. XRAY3 day/night sights are included standard. At 17.8 oz unloaded, it's one of the lightest 12+1 carry guns on the market. The modular SIG FCU chassis means you can swap grip modules as the platform expands.

#3 — FN Reflex MRD FDE

MSRP $676.00 UPC: 845737016258
Caliber: 9mm Luger
Capacity: 15+1 (incl. 11rd flush mag)
Barrel: 3.3" cold hammer-forged
Overall Length: 6.2"
Slide Width: 1.0"
Weight: 18.5 oz unloaded
Action: Internal hammer-fired, SAO
Sights: Tritium front, U-notch rear
Finish: Flat Dark Earth PVD
Optics: Shield RMSc / Holosun K-series

The FN Reflex MRD FDE stands out from the crowd with a distinctive internal hammer-fired SAO trigger — one of the smoothest and most refined triggers in any micro-compact carry gun. The 3.3" cold hammer-forged barrel is FN's hallmark, delivering exceptional accuracy and longevity. This FDE model ships with both a flush 11-round magazine and a 15-round extended magazine, plus hardware to mount micro red dots in the Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series footprint. The tritium front night sight with orange ring aids low-light target acquisition. At 1.0" slide width it carries as slim as anything on the market. The Flat Dark Earth PVD finish is not only tactically practical — it makes this one of the sharpest-looking carry guns Jett's Firearms stocks. A strong choice for the shooter who wants FN quality in a deep-conceal package.

#4 — Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0

MSRP $399 UPC: 022188897012
Caliber: .380 ACP
Capacity: 10+1 / 12+1
Barrel: 2.75" stainless steel
Overall Length: 5.25"
Width: 0.88"
Weight: 9.8 oz unloaded
Action: Striker-fired, flat-face trigger
Sights: Tritium front, U-notch rear
Safety: Manual thumb safety + internal
Finish: Black Armornite

At 9.8 ounces unloaded and 0.875" wide, the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is one of the lightest and slimmest carry guns on the market. S&W rebuilt this platform from the ground up — the new striker-fired flat-face trigger is a major step up from the original Bodyguard, delivering a clean take-up, crisp break, and short reset. Ships with both a flush 10-round and an extended 12-round magazine. Tritium front sight for low-light use. The .380 ACP chambering is a deliberate choice for buyers who want minimal recoil, maximum concealability, and all-day comfortable carry — particularly for smaller-framed shooters. The Armornite-finished stainless barrel and slide provide excellent corrosion resistance for daily carry. At $399 MSRP, it's the most affordable option on this list and the easiest gun to carry every single day.

What to Look for in a Carry Gun

  • Reliability — Your carry gun must run every time without fail.
  • Concealability — The best carry gun is the one you'll actually carry every day.
  • Trigger quality — A clean break and short reset build accuracy and confidence.
  • Night sights — Most defensive encounters happen in low light. Tritium matters.
  • Optics-ready — Red dots on carry guns are no longer optional for most serious carriers.
Come handle all four of these at any Jett's Firearms gun show table. Nothing replaces putting the gun in your hand before you buy.

Complete Guide to NC Gun Shows in 2026

By Jett's Firearms · April 1, 2026 · 5 min read

North Carolina hosts some of the best-attended gun shows in the Southeast. Whether you're a first-time buyer or a seasoned collector, this guide covers everything you need to know before you walk in the door.

What to Expect at a North Carolina Gun Show

NC gun shows typically run Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday being the busiest day. You'll find licensed FFL dealers like Jett's Firearms alongside private sellers, ammo vendors, accessories, militaria, and more. Shows vary in size from several hundred to some reaching one thousand tables. The largest shows in North Carolina are held at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh and the Crown Expo Center in Fayetteville.

What to Bring

  • Valid government-issued photo ID (required for all firearm purchases)
  • Conceal Carry Handgun Permit *Recommended (Not Needed for Purchases)
  • Cash — many vendors prefer it and some don't accept cards
  • Your reservation confirmation if you reserved a firearm with Jett's Firearms
  • Comfortable shoes — you'll be on your feet

Do I Need a Background Check?

Yes — when purchasing from a licensed FFL dealer like Jett's Firearms. All our sales require a NICS background check processed on-site at the show. There is no "gun show loophole" when buying from an FFL. Private party sales between individuals operate under different rules, but all purchases from our table go through the full federal process.

How to Get the Best Deals

  • Reserve online first — Jett's Firearms holds your item before the show so it doesn't sell out
  • Go early — The best inventory moves in the first few hours on Saturday
  • Bring cash — Some vendors offer cash discounts
  • Compare prices — Walk the floor before committing
  • Know what you want — Research your firearm before the show so you can move fast

2026 NC Gun Show Locations

Jett's Firearms attends shows in Fayetteville (Crown Expo Center), Raleigh (NC State Fairgrounds), Hickory (Hickory Metro Convention Center), Winston-Salem (Winston-Salem Fairgrounds), and Concord (Cabarrus Arena & Events Center). See the full 2026 schedule on our gun shows page.

How FFL Transfers Work at NC Gun Shows

By Jett's Firearms · March 1, 2026 · 5 min read

The term "FFL transfer" comes up constantly in firearm purchasing, but many buyers aren't sure exactly what it means. Here's a plain-English breakdown of the entire process — specifically how it works when buying from a licensed dealer like Jett's Firearms at a North Carolina gun show.

What Is an FFL?

FFL stands for Federal Firearms License. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) issues this license to businesses and individuals who manufacture, import, or deal in firearms commercially. Jett's Firearms holds an FFL, which means every sale we make is subject to federal regulations — including mandatory background checks.

What Happens at the Point of Sale

  1. ATF Form 4473 You fill out the Firearms Transaction Record. This form collects your personal information and asks a series of legal disqualifier questions.
  2. NICS Check We submit your information to the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Results come back in seconds in most cases — approved, denied, or delayed.
  3. Transfer Completes If approved, you pay and take possession of your firearm. The entire process typically takes 5–15 minutes at our show table.

Is There a "Gun Show Loophole"?

Not when purchasing from a licensed FFL dealer. The so-called "gun show loophole" refers to private sales between individuals — not dealer sales. Every purchase from Jett's Firearms, at every show, goes through a full NICS background check. No exceptions.

NC-Specific Requirements

North Carolina requires a valid NC government-issued photo ID for handgun purchases. If you do not have a NC government-issued photo ID, there are exceptions — such as presenting Official Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. We strongly recommend obtaining your NC Concealed Handgun Permit, as it makes transactions faster and easier at the show.

How to Buy a Pistol in North Carolina — ID Requirements Explained

By Jett's Firearms · May 2026 · 4 min read
This information applies to purchases from Jett's Firearms at NC gun shows. For legal advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed attorney.

One of the most common questions we hear at the table is: "What ID do I need to buy a handgun in North Carolina?" The answer is simpler than most people expect — and there are options for buyers who may not have a North Carolina-issued ID.

The Standard Requirement

A valid NC government-issued photo ID is all that is required for a pistol purchase from Jett's Firearms. This includes a NC Driver's License or NC State ID card. We process a NICS background check on-site — no separate pistol purchase permit is required.

What If You Don't Have a NC ID?

If you are new to North Carolina — for example, military personnel who have recently relocated — you may not yet have a NC-issued ID. In these cases, exceptions exist. One of the most common is presenting Official Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders, which serve as documentation of your lawful presence and residence in NC.

If you are in this situation, come speak with us at the table and we will work through the process with you. Every situation is unique, and we are committed to helping lawful buyers complete their purchase in compliance with all federal and NC regulations.

Our Recommendation: Get Your NC Concealed Handgun Permit

While not required for a purchase, we strongly recommend obtaining your NC Concealed Carry Handgun Permit (CHP). Here's why:

  • Faster transactions — A valid CHP in NC exempts you from the NICS wait, meaning your purchase is completed faster at the show
  • Legal carry — You can legally carry your handgun concealed in NC and in many other states
  • Nationwide recognition — NC CHPs are honored by a large number of other states under reciprocity agreements
  • Proof of vetting — The CHP process includes a background check, so you've already cleared the hurdle

Summary

  • Valid NC government-issued photo ID = standard requirement
  • Military with PCS orders = accepted as an exception
  • NC Concealed Handgun Permit = recommended for fastest transactions
  • No separate pistol purchase permit required
